Fault Description:

Head-Up-Display System (HUD) does not receive data from the Integrated Avionics Computer (Micro Air Data Computer (MADC)).

Possible Causes:

  • Head-Up Flight Display Computer (HFDC) (A250)
  • Micro Air Data Computer (MADC) 1 (A27)
  • Micro Air Data Computer (MADC) 2 (A28)
  • Micro Air Data Computer (MADC) 3 (A29)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin: None

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: None

If more fault reports are sent by a different system about the micro air−data computer, do the fault isolation of the MADC.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Perform wiring check between MADC 1, JB3 and HUDC as follows:

    From To Result
    A27P1-68 A250BP1-J1
    A27P1-69 A250BP1-K1
    GND A250BP1-J2
    A27P1-SH A250BP1-SH

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.
NOTE: When short circuit is detected, remove all interface components and reinstall one at a time to isolate short.

  2. Perform wiring check between MADC 2, JB6 and HUDC as follows:

    From To Result
    A28P1-68 A250EP1-E1
    A28P1-69 A250EP1-E2
    GND A250EP1-D2
    A28P1-SH A250EP1-SH

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.
NOTE: When short circuit is detected, remove all interface components and reinstall one at a time to isolate short.

  3. Perform wiring check between MADC 3, JB5 and HUDC as follows:

    From To Result
    A29P1-63 A250BP1-E6
    A29P1-64 A250BP1-F6
    GND A250BP1- B5
    A29P1-SH A250BP1-SH
    A29P1-66 A250EP1-E4
    A29P1-67 A250EP1-F4
    GND A250EP1- F3
    A29P1-SH A250EP1-SH

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.
NOTE: When short circuit is detected, remove all interface components and reinstall one at a time to isolate short.

  4. Replace defective MADC(s).

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  5. Replace HUDC.
  6. Do close out.
