AMBER MESSAGE (ADVISORY)
CYAN MESSAGE (STATUS)
WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

Either control panel is not communicating with Weather Radar Transceiver (RTA). Amber FAIL legend and fault code 20 display in Multi-Function Display (MFD) status window.

Possible Causes:

  • Weather Radar Transceiver (RTA) (A125)
  • Weather Radar Control Panel 1 (A122)
  • Weather Radar Control Panel 2 (A92)
  • Secondary Power Distribution Assembly (SPDA) 1 (A13)
  • Associated Wiring

The FAIL legend and fault codes show on the MFD status window only when the WXR system is in TST (Test) mode and an active fault has occurred.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Check for 28 VDC of pilot weather control panel (A122P1-D) and copilot weather control panel (A92P1-D).

    1. If there is 28 VDC, go to step 4.
    2. If there is no 28 VDC, continue with next step.

  2. Perform a wiring check for open or short circuit to ground between SPDA 1 and weather control panels as follows:

    From To Result
    A13P2-D A122P1-D
    A13P2-J A92P1-D

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  3. Swap SPDA 1 with SPDA 3.

    1. If system checks are good, replace SPDA 1 and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Perform a wiring check for open or short circuit to ground between WX RTA (A125P1) and weather control panels.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  5. Replace pilot's WX control panel.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  6. Replace copilot's WX control panel.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  7. Replace WXR R/T.
  8. Do close out.
