Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Overview:

Fault Message:

IRS/WRG/WX RTA FAULT (30B)

Fault Code:

3440025WX

Associated CAS:

None

Reporting LRU: Weather Radar System
System Description: 34-41-00
Schematic Diagram: 34-41-00 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]
Wiring Diagram: 34-41-01 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]

34-45-02 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]

Fault Description:

Ground speed is not available from either Inertial Reference Unit (IRU) or a problem is processed with the turbulence detection hardware. Amber FAIL legend and fault code 30 show in Multi-Function Display (MFD) status window.

Possible Causes:

  • Inertial Reference Unit (IRU) 1 (A32)
  • Inertial Reference Unit (IRU) 2 (A33)
  • Weather Radar (WXR) Receiver/Transmitter (R/T) (A125)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin: None

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: None

The FAIL legend and fault codes show on the MFD status window only when the WXR system is in TST (Test) mode and an active fault has occurred.

NOTE:

  • RTA uses first IRU that provides valid data. If RTA detects failure of attitude data from one IRU, it will switch to the other source
  • There is a delay of up to 4 minutes for some faults to display. Therefore allow system in test mode for significant time to display all active faults

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Make sure that IRUs were aligned on ATT mode prior to TST.
  2. Perform a wiring check for open or short circuit to ground between WX RTA (A125P1), IRU 1 (A32BP1), and IRU 2 (A33BP1).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  3. Power IRUs one at a time and monitor code 30B to determine defective IRU. (The suspected IRU does not remove code 30B).
NOTE: If both IRU do not remove fault code 30B, it may be a normal condition while aircraft is on ground and ground speed is not computed.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Replace defective IRUs.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

NOTE: Use IRU 3 for swapping if spare IRU is not available.

  5. Replace WXR R/T.
  6. Do close out.
