Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

Weather Radar Transceiver (RTA) does not receiver communication from Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 1 (GP bus). Amber FAIL legend and fault code 37 display in Multi-Function Display (MFD) status window.

Possible Causes:

  • Junction Box 3 (JB3)
  • Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 1 (A17)
  • Weather Radar (WXR) Receiver/Transmitter (R/T) (A125)
  • Associated Wiring

The FAIL legend and fault codes show on the MFD status window only when the WXR system is in TST (Test) mode and an active fault has occurred.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Perform a wiring check for open or short circuit to ground between WX RTA (A125P1), JB3 and DAU 1 (A17CP1).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  2. Swap DAU 1 with DAU 2.

    1. If system checks are good, replace DAU 1 and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  3. Replace WXR R/T.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step

  4. Replace JB3.
  5. Do close out.
