RED MESSAGE (CAUTION)
AMBER MESSAGE (ADVISORY)
CYAN MESSAGE (STATUS)
WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

The Flight Management System (FMS) does not operate correctly.

Possible Causes:

  • Flight Management System Control and Display Unit (FMS CDU) 3 (A218)
  • Integrated Avionics Computer (IAC) 3 (A12)

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. On the CAIMS PMAT, get access to system diagnostics (AMM TASK 45-45-00-970-804) and perform the CDU-Automatic and Interactive test, and Long Range NAV Sensors-ARINC 429 Bus Status.
  2. After each test is completed, look for the TEST RESULTS page and record the fault type and code(s) for each IMT fault.
  3. Perform the IMT fault code look-up procedure (AMM TASK 45-45-00-970-826) to find the applicable troubleshooting procedures.
  4. Carry out troubleshooting procedures.
  5. Do close out.
