Troubleshooting Recommendations:
- Examine the engine branched wiring-harness for bare wiring, kinks, worn areas and other damage (WM 49-12).
- If there is bare wiring, kinks, worn areas or other damage, replace engine branched wiring-harness and do close out.
- If NOT, continue with next step.
- Check if the VOLTS TO START MOTOR OUT HIGH still shows on the CAIMS PMAT.
- If NO, do close out.
- If YES, continue with next step.
- Examine the starter motor terminals for contamination and damage.
- If contaminated or damaged, go to step 13.
- If not contaminated or damaged, continue with next step.
- Check if the VOLTS TO START MOTOR OUT HIGH still shows on the CAIMS PMAT.
- If NO, do close out.
- If YES, continue with next step.
- Perform a continuity check between the negative and positive terminals on the starter motor (MPE3) (WM 49-12) as follows:
From To Expected Result Result MPE3-NEG MPE3-POS less than one ohm - If the measurement fails, go to step 13.
- If the measurement is good, continue with next step.
- Check if the VOLTS TO START MOTOR OUT HIGH still shows on the CAIMS PMAT.
- If NO, do close out.
- If YES, continue with next step.
- Perform a continuity check between the pins of the connectors as follows (WM 49-12):
From To Expected Result Result APU P1-4 positive cable less than one ohm APU P1-5 negative cable less than one ohm - If the resistance is not as table above, replace the engine branched wiring-harness and do close out.
- If the resistance is as table above, continue with next step.
- Check if the VOLTS TO START MOTOR OUT HIGH still shows on the CAIMS PMAT.
- If NO, do close out.
- If YES, continue with next step.
- Make sure there is no short between each pin 4 and 5, and the connector shell of P1 (WM 49-12).
- If there is short, replace the engine branched wiring-harness and do close out.
- If there is no short, continue with next step.
- Check if the VOLTS TO START MOTOR OUT HIGH still shows on the CAIMS PMAT.
- If NO, do close out.
- If YES, continue with next step.
- Perform wiring checks between J802 (aircraft wiring harness) and A108BP1 (FADEC).
- If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
- If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.
- Make sure there is no short between each pin 4 and 5, and the connector shell of J802 (WM 49-61).
- If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
- If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.
- Replace starter motor (MPE3).
- Do close out.
