Fault Description:
The Full-Authority Digital Engine-Controller (FADEC) cannot read data from the Start Counter Meter. This shows a possible defective start counter meter or a possible short circuit or open circuit in the engine branched wiring-harness or the aircraft wiring harness.
Possible Causes:
- Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Full-Authority Digital Engine-Controller (FADEC) (A108)
- Start Counter Meter (M2)
- Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:
- Examine the engine branched wiring-harness for bare wiring, kinks, worn areas and other damage (WM 49-12).
- If there is bare wiring, kinks, worn areas or other damage, go to step 11.
- If there is no bare wiring, kinks, worn areas or other damage, continue with next step.
- Check if the message NO DATA - START COUNTER METER/WRG still shows on the CAIMS PMAT.
- If NO, do close out.
- If YES, continue with next step.
- Examine the start-counter meter (M2) receptacle for contamination and damage.
- If there is contamination or damage, go to step 12.
- If there is no contamination or damage, continue with next step.
- Check if the message NO DATA - START COUNTER METER/WRG still shows on the CAIMS PMAT.
- If NO, do close out.
- If YES, continue with next step.
- Connect the hour meter/start counter reader to the start counter meter (M2). Push down and hold the push-button on the hour meter/start counter reader.
- If there is no data on the EVENTS LED, go to step 12.
- If there is data on the EVENTS LED, continue with next step.
- Check if the message NO DATA - START COUNTER METER/WRG still shows on the CAIMS PMAT.
- If NO, do close out.
- If YES, continue with next step.
- Perform wiring checks between APU (P1 (P802)) and start counter meter (M2P1).
- If wiring checks not good, go to step 11.
- If wiring checks good and if the message NO DATA - START COUNTER METER/WRG still shows on the CAIMS PMAT, continue with next step.
- Perform a check for insulation resistance between each pin that follows and the shell (WM 49-12) as follows:
Pin Expected Result Result P1 (P802)-69 > 1 megaohm M2P1-C > 1 megaohm - If resistance checks not good, go to step 11.
- If resistance checks good and if the message NO DATA - START COUNTER METER/WRG still shows on the CAIMS PMAT, continue with next step.
- Perform a check for insulation resistance between each pin that follows and the shell (WM 49-61). The resistance should measure more than one megaohm for each wire as follows:
Pin Expected Result Result P1 (P802)-69 > 1 megohm A108AP1-C11 > 1 megohm - If resistance checks not good, go to step 11.
- If resistance checks good and if the message NO DATA - START COUNTER METER/WRG still shows on the CAIMS PMAT, continue with next step.
- Perform wiring checks between aircraft wiring harness (J802) and FADEC (A108AP1).
- If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
- If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.
- Replace Engine branched wiring-harness.
- If system checks are good, do close out.
- If fault remains, continue with next step.
- Replace the start counter meter (M2).
- Do close out.
