WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

The start relay signals from the Full-Authority Digital Engine-Controller (FADEC) are out of the expected range. This shows apossible short in the start relay or the aircraft wiring.

Possible Causes:

  • Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Start Contactor Assembly (ASCA) (A48)
  • Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Full-Authority Digital Engine-Controller (FADEC) (A108)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Make sure there is no short between A48P2-C and connector shell (receptacle).

    1. If there is a short, go to step 4.
    2. If there is no short, continue with next step.

  2. Check if the SHORT - APU START CONTACTOR/WRG still shows on the CAIMS PMAT.

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  3. Perform wiring checks between APU starter-contactor assembly connector (A48P2) and FADEC connector (A108BP1).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  4. Replace APU starter-contactor (A48).
  5. Do close out.
