Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Examine the engine branched wiring-harness for bare wiring, kinks, worn areas and other damage (WM 49-12).

    1. If there is bare wiring, kinks, worn areas or other damage, replace engine branched wiring-harness and do close out.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  2. Check if SHORT CH B - IGN PLUG/LEAD/EXCITER/WRG still shows.

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  3. Perform a detailed inspection of the igniter plugs for damage.

    1. If plugs are damaged, replace plugs and do close out.
    2. If plugs are good, continue with next step.

  4. Perform a continuity check between the pins on each end of the igniter plug leads. The resistance should be less than one ohm.

    1. If there is no continuity, replace Igniter plug lead and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  5. Examine the ignition exciter (A2) receptacle for contamination and damage.

    1. If there is damage, go to step 11.
    2. If there is no damage and if SHORT CH B - IGN PLUG/LEAD/EXCITER/WRG still shows, continue with next step.

  6. Make sure there is no short between each pin A, B, C, D and the connector shell of A2 receptacle (WM 49-12).

    1. If there is a short, go to step 11.
    2. If there is no short, continue with next step.

  7. Check if SHORT CH B - IGN PLUG/LEAD/EXCITER/WRG still shows.

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  8. Perform a continuity check between pin E and the connector shell of A2 receptacle (WM 49-12).

    1. If there is no continuity, go to step 11.
    2. If there is continuity and if SHORT CH B - IGN PLUG/LEAD/EXCITER/WRG still shows, continue with next step.

  9. Perform wiring checks between APU (P1) and ignition exciter (A2P1).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, replace engine branched wiring-harness and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good and if SHORT CH B - IGN PLUG/LEAD/EXCITER/WRG still shows, continue with next step.

  10. Perform wiring checks between aircraft wiring harness (J802) and FADEC (A108AP1).

    1. If wiring checks are good, do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are not good, continue with next step.

  11. Replace ignition exciter (A2).
  12. Do close out.
