Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

The two Ignition Exciter fault Switches show defective channels.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  

  1. Inspect the APU FADEC harness and APU FADEC mounting tray connector for contamination or damage.

    1. Repair as required. If the fault message is gone from OMS, do close out.
    2. If fault message remains active, continue with next step.

  2. Do wiring checks on (A2) Ignition Exciter. The step 2 checks are intended to check the box, not the harness.

    A2-A A2 Shell Open > 1Ω
    A2-B A2 Shell Open > 1Ω
    A2-C A2 Shell Open > 1Ω
    A2-D A2 Shell Open > 1Ω

  3. Are checks satisfactory?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace the (A2) Ignition Exciter.

  4. Do wiring checks on Ignition Exciter harness.

    From To Expected Results Results
    A2P1-A P802-2 Continuity
    A2P1-B P802-29 Continuity
    A2P1-C P802-3 Continuity
    A2P1-D P802-31 Continuity

  5. Are checks satisfactory?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, repair as required.

  6. Perform wiring checks between APU Connector (J802) (AC wiring harness) on  Firewall and  APU FADEC connectors.

    J802-29 A108BP1-112 Continuity

  7. Are checks satisfactory?

    1. If NO, repair as required.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  8. Replace Ignition Exciter Unit.

    1. If fault is gone from the OMS, do close out.
    2. If fault on the OMS remains, continue with next step.

  9. Replace APU FADEC.
  10. Do close out.
