These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

The signals from the close relay, in the Linear Actuator, to the Full-Authority Digital Engine-Controller (FADEC) are lower than the expected range. This shows a possible short in the Linear Actuator close-relay or the aircraft wiring harness.

Possible Causes:

  • Linear Actuator (A199)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Examine the linear actuator (A199) receptacle for contamination and damage.

    1. If there is contamination or damage, go to step 9.
    2. If there is no contamination or damage, continue with next step.

  2. If SHORT- INL DR LIN ACTR/CL RELAY WRG still shows on the CAIMS PMAT, perform a continuity check between linear actuator connector (A199P1) receptacle and grounded shell as follows (WM 49-61):

    From To Expected Result Result
    A199P1-A Ground >1 megohm
    A199P1-D Ground >1 megohm

    1. If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  3. If SHORT- INL DR LIN ACTR/CL RELAY WRG still shows on the CAIMS PMAT, perform a continuity check on aircraft wiring harness connector (P803) as follows (WM 49-61):

    From To Expected Result Result
    P803-L P803-F >1 megohm

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  4. If SHORT- INL DR LIN ACTR/CL RELAY WRG still shows on the CAIMS PMAT, perform a continuity check between aircraft wiring harness (P803) and grounded shell as follows (WM 49-61):

    From To Expected Result Result
    P803-L Ground > 1megohm
    P803-F Ground > 1megohm

    1. If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  5. If SHORT- INL DR LIN ACTR/CL RELAY WRG still shows on the CAIMS PMAT, perform a continuity check on aircraft wiring harness connector (P803) as follows (WM 49-61):

    From To Expected Result Result
    P803-L P803-F >1 megohm

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  6. If SHORT- INL DR LIN ACTR/CL RELAY WRG still shows on the CAIMS PMAT, perform continuity check between aircraft wiring harness connector (J803) and ground shell (WM 49-61) as follows:

    From To Expected Result Result
    J803-L Ground > 1megohm
    J803-F Ground > 1megohm

    1. If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  7. If SHORT- INL DR LIN ACTR/CL RELAY WRG still shows on the CAIMS PMAT, perform a continuity check between aircraft wiring harness connector (J803) and APU starter-contactor assembly connector (A48P1) as follows (WM 49-61):

    From To Expected Result Result
    J803-L A48P1-e <3 ohms

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  8. On the APU starter-contactor assembly (A48) receptacle, check if there is 24 volts minimum on A48P1-e.

    1. If NO, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  9. Replace linear actuator (A199).
  10. Do close out.
