WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

OIL FIRE DETECTION thermocouple signal of EEC CH A failed out of range.

Possible Causes:

  • Oil Fire Detection Thermocouple
  • Engine Electronic Controller (EEC)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

CAUTION: DO NOT PERFORM ELECTRICAL CHECKS INTO THE ENGINE ELECTRONIC CONTROLLER (EEC). IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE EEC CAN OCCUR.

  1. Open the circuit breakers that follow:

    SYSTEM NAME CIRCUIT BREAKER NAME BUS NAME
    ENGINE L FADEC CH A BATT
    ENGINE L FADEC CH B BATT
    ENGINE L ENG IGN 1 BATT
    ENGINE L ENG IGN 2 BATT
    ENGINE L ENG FUEL HPSOV BATT
    ENGINE L ENG START A BATT
    ENGINE L ENG START B BATT
    ENGINE L T/R CTL VALVE BATT
    ENGINE L T/R LOWER LOCK BATT
    ENGINE L T/R UPPER LOCK BATT

  2. Do a deactivation of the thrust reverser.
  3. Open the cowls.
  4. Remove the applicable bypass−duct access panel.
  5. Remove the applicable combustion section fairing.
  6. If the maintenance alert message is stored, the fault could be intermittent.
  7. Examine the interface wiring for damage between the connectors and the terminal blocks that follow:

      For Channel A

    • The EEC connector P1044
    • The bypass duct connectors J1030 and P1030
    • The terminal blocks TB2110 and TB2125, and the ground connector GC2101

      NOTE: Look for signs of damage adjacent to clip locations.

    • Clean the terminal blocks TB2110, TB2125, the ground connector GC2101 and the Alumel and Chromel terminal lugs.
    • Repair or replace defective wiring as necessary.
    • If the fault message is still active, replace the oil-fire detection thermocouple.
    • Do close out.
