These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

The Position Discrete Microswitch channel A of the High Pressure Shut Off Valve (HPSOV) has a problem. The Fuel Metering Unit (FMU) HPSOV circuits are monitored by the Full-Authority Digital Engine-Controller (FADEC) during the engine start procedure.

Possible Causes:

  • Fuel Metering Unit (FMU) 2
  • Engine Electronic Controller (EEC) 2
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Open the cowls.
  2. Perform wiring checks between EEC 2 (P1044) and FMU 2 (P1049).

    1. If wiring defects are found, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If no defects are found, continue with next step.

  3. Swap EEC 2 with EEC 1. Is the fault still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Replace FMU 2.
  5. Do close out.
