Troubleshooting Recommendations:

WARNING: BEFORE YOU TOUCH THE IGNITION SYSTEM COMPONENTS, MAKE SURE OF THE CONDITIONS THAT FOLLOW:

  • ISOLATE THE POWER SUPPLY (MAKE SURE THE APPLICABLE CIRCUIT BREAKERS ARE OPEN)
  • AFTER YOU ISOLATE THE POWER SUPPLY, DO NOT TOUCH THE IGNITION SYSTEM COMPONENTS BEFORE A MINIMUM OF THREE MINUTES
  • YOU MUST DO THIS TO MAKE SURE THE RESIDUAL CURRENT DECREASES TO A SAFE LEVEL. THE IGNITION SYSTEM HAS VERY HIGH VOLTAGES WHICH CAN KILL YOU

  1. Swap ignition unit 1 with ignition unit 2. Did the fault follow the ignition unit?
    1. If YES, replace ignition unit 1 and do close out.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  2. Perform an inspection/check for the ignition lead 1 contacts.

    1. If defects are found, repair as required and do close out.
    2. If system checks are good, continue with next step.

  3. Perform a detailed inspection of the inboard igniter plug.

    1. If defects are found, repair as required and do close out.
    2. If system checks are good, continue with next step.

  4. Perform wiring checks between ignition unit 1 (P1054) and EEC 2 (P1043).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  5. Perform wiring checks between ignition unit 1 (P1055) and EEC 2 (P1046).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  6. Perform a 28 VDC voltage check at ignition unit 1 (P710).

    1. If there is 28 VDC, go to step 9.
    2. If there is no 28 VDC, continue with next step.

  7. Perform wiring checks between SPDA 3 (A15P1), the fixed cowl interface (2JB2) and ignition unit 1 (P710).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  8. Swap SPDA 3 (A15) with SPDA 1 (A13). Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, replace SPDA 3 and do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  9. Replace the inboard Igniter Plug.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  10. Swap Right EEC with Left EEC. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, replace Right EEC and do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  11. Replace the Right Engine Ignition Lead 1.
  12. Do close out.
