WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

The fault message is set when there is an open/short circuit in the Maintenance Test-Enable Switch (MTES) or the interface wiring.

Possible Causes:

  • Maintenance Test-Enable Switch (MTES)
  • Right Engine Electronic Controller (EEC)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

CAUTION: DO NOT DO ELECTRICAL CHECKS INTO THE ENGINE ELECTRONIC CONTROLLER (EEC). IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE EEC CAN OCCUR.

  1. Perform a visual inspection of the interface wiring and connectors for damage between MTES and Right EEC (P1043).

    1. If there is damage, repair as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no damage, continue with next step.

  2. Connect the connector P1043 and the contacts S1093 and S1094, and the ground connector GC1095.

    1. If the fault message does not occur, do close out.
    2. If the fault message was stored, then the fault could be intermittent. Monitor the system to see if the fault message occurs again and continue with next step.

  3. Perform wiring checks between between the pins of the connector MTES and P1043 (EEC).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  4. Perform a check of the insulation resistance of the interface between S1093 and S1094, and the connector P1043.

    1. If there is damage, repair as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no damage, continue with next step.

  5. Replace MTES.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  6. Replace Right EEC.
  7. Do close out.
