Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Disconnect applicable VHF COMM unit fan power connector (VHF COMM 1 - A1P1) (VHF COMM 2 - A2P1) (VHF COMM 3 - A226P1). Do 28 VDC voltage and ground check as follows:
    VHF 1

    From To Expected Result Result
    A1J1-2 Ground 28 VDC
    A1J1-54 Ground Continuity

    VHF 2

    From To Expected Result Result
    A2J1-2 Ground 28 VDC
    A2J1-54 Ground Continuity

    VHF 3

    From To Expected Result Result
    A226J1-2 Ground 28 VDC
    A226J1-54 Ground Continuity

    1. If there is voltage and ground, continue with next step
    2. If there is no voltage or ground, go to step 3

  2. Perform a continuity check between the applicable VHF COMM unit and cooling fan
    VHF 1

    From To Result
    A1P1-2 Fan B1 PWR contact
    A1P1-54 Fan B1 RTN contact

    VHF 2

    From To Result
    A2P1-2 Fan B2 PWR contact
    A2P1-54 Fan B2 RTN contact

    VHF 3

    From To Result
    A226P1-2 Fan B61 PWR contact
    A226P1-54 Fan B61 RTN contact

    1. If there is continuity, replace cooling fan
    2. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring and do close out

  3. Replace applicable VHF COMM unit
  4. Do close out
