Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

One or both of the Flight Compartment Loudspeakers do not operate correctly.

Possible Causes:

  • Audio Panel Switch
  • Flight Compartment Loudspeaker 1 (A197)
  • Flight Compartment Loudspeaker 2 (A198)
  • Audio Panel 1 (A8)
  • Audio Panel 2 (A9)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Make sure that the Audio Panel switches are configured properly. Refer to AMM task 23-51-01-710-801.
  2. Remove applicable cockpit loudspeaker (A197 or A198). Disconnect applicable Audio Panel (A8 or A9) connector (A8P1 or A9P1). Perform a continuity check as follows:
    For Loudspeaker 1 (A197):

    From To Result
    A8P1-Y Ground
    A8P1-L Ground
    A8P1-Y A8P1-L

    For Loudspeaker 2 (A198):

    From To Result
    A9P1-Y Ground
    A9P1-L Ground
    A9P1-Y A9P1-L

    1. If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  3. Perform a continuity check as follows:
    For Loudspeaker 1 (A197):

    From To Result
    A8P1-Y Speaker-H
    A8P1-L Speaker-L

    For Loudspeaker 2 (A198):

    From To Result
    A9P1-Y Speaker-H
    A9P1-L Speaker-L

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  4. Swap Audio Panels. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, replace the defective audio panel and do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  5. Replace applicable Cockpit Loudspeaker.
  6. Do close out.
