Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

One of the two Radio Headsets/Headset Jacks-Panels does not operate correctly.

Possible Causes:

  • Radio Headset
  • Pilot Headset Jacks Panel (AP44)
  • Copilot Headset Jacks Panel (AP45)
  • Audio Panel 1 (A8)
  • Audio Panel 2 (A9)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Perform the Operational Test of the Headset Jacks Panel to make sure that the Audio Panel is configured correctly. Refer to AMM 23-51-29-710-801.

    1. If the system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  2. Swap the headset to perform the test.

    1. If the system checks are good, replace the defective headset and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  3. Depending on which side is affected, disconnect the Pilot Headset Jack Panel connector (AP44P1) and Audio Panel 1 connectors (A8P1/P2) or Copilot Headset Jack Panel connector (AP45P1) and Audio Panel 2 connectors (A9P1/P2). Perform a continuity check as follows:
    Pilot side:

    From To Result
    AP44P1-9 Ground
    AP44P1-10 Ground
    AP44P1-13 Ground
    AP44P1-9 AP44P1-10

    Copilot side:

    From To Result
    AP45P1-9 Ground
    AP45P1-10 Ground
    AP45P1-13 Ground
    AP45P1-9 AP44P1-10

    1. If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  4. Perform a continuity check as follows:
    Pilot side:

    From To Result
    AP44P1-9 A8P1-k
    AP44P1-10 A8P1-t
    AP44P1-13 A8P2-Y

    Copilot side:

    From To Result
    AP45P1-9 A9P1-k
    AP45P1-10 A9P1-t
    AP45P1-13 A9P2-Y

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  5. Swap the Pilot or Copilot Headset Jack panel.

    1. If the system checks are good, replace defective headset jack panel and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  6. Replace the defective Audio Control Panel.
  7. Do close out.
