Message Description:
Rudder trim indication does not change with rudder trim inputs from the Aileron/Rudder/Stabilizer (AIL/RUD/STAB) TRIMS Control Panel. Rudder does not move when the Rudder Trim Switch is operated. Rudder trim indication is unserviceable.
Possible Causes:
- Rudder Trim Actuator (B40)
- Aileron/Rudder/Stabilizer (AIL/RUD/STAB) Trims Control Panel (AP20)
- Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:
- Check Rudder Trim Indication for service.
- If the Rudder Trim Indication is serviceable, go to step 3.
- If the Rudder Trim Indication is unserviceable, continue with next step.
- Disconnect the Rudder Trim Actuator connector B40P1 and DAU 1 connector A17AP1. Perform a wiring check and insulation resistance check between the pins of the connectors of Rudder Trim Actuator (B40P1) and DAU 1 (A17AP1) as follows:
From To Result B40P1-F A17AP1-B5 B40P1-E A17AP1-C4 B40P1-D A17AP1-D4 B40P1-C (shield) A17AP1-SH (shield) - If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
- If wiring checks are good, go to step 8.
- Disconnect the connector B40P1. Perform a +28 VDC power check for the Rudder Trim Actuator (B40P1) as follows:
NOTE: Set the rudder trim switch to NL or NR while you do the check except for pin L.From To Expected Result Result B40P1-G B40P1-L +28 VDC B40P1-G B40P1-J +28 VDC B40P1-G B40P1-K +28 VDC - If there is no +28 VDC, continue with next step.
- If there is +28 VDC, go to step 8.
- Disconnect the connector AP20P1. Perform a +28 VDC power check on the Trim Panel (AP20P1) as follows:
From To Expected Result Result AP20P1-A AP20P1-K +28 VDC - If there is no +28 VDC, go to step 6.
- If there is +28 VDC, continue with next step.
- Perform a wiring check and insulation resistance check between the pins of the connectors Trim Panel (AP20P1) and Rudder Trim Actuator (B40P1) as follows:
From To Result AP20P1-C B40P1-G AP20P1-D B40P1-J AP20P1-J B40P1-K AP20P1-K (ground) B40P1-L (ground) AP20P1-K GS185 - If wiring checks are good, replace the Trim Control Panel and do close out.
- If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and continue with next step.
- Disconnect the connector A13P4. Perform a 28 VDC power check at the SPDA 1 connector (A13P4) as follows:
From To Expected Result Result A13P4-D AP20P1-A 28 VDC - If the voltage check is good, repair or replace the defective wiring as required and do close out.
- If the voltage check is not good, continue with next step.
- Perform the troubleshooting for the SPDA 1 (A13).
- If system checks are good, do close out.
- If fault remains, continue with next step.
- Replace Rudder Trim Actuator.
- Do close out.
