Message Description:

During normal system operation or during automatic refueling operation, there is possibility that the "INHIBIT' message be displayed on the Refuel/Defuel Control Panel (RDCP).

Possible Causes:

  • External Refuel/Defuel Control Panel (RDCP) (A46)
  • Cockpit Refuel/Defuel Control Panel (RDCP) (A213)
  • Throttle Quadrant Assembly (TQA) (AP41)

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Familiarize with AW700-28-0177.
  2. Check for all Refuel/Defuel SOV switches are in the CLOSE position, before turning on the RDCP.

    1. If any of the switches are in open position, turn switch position to close and continue with next step.
    2. If system checks are good, continue with next step.

  3. In Auto Refuel Mode, ensure the throttle quadrant "L Engine" and "R Engine" switches are selected "OFF". To rule out the possibility of an intermittent switch, perform a continuity check on FMQGC as follows:

    Condition From To Result
L Engine RUN switch set OFF A47AP1-H12 Ground
R Engine RUN switch set OFF A47DP1-F15 Ground

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required or replace TQA and continue with next step.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  4. Using the PMAT, access CAIMS to view stored or active faults. Make sure CAIMS is not active. Perform a operational test for RDCP or FMQGC.

    1. If there is a fault, repair as required and continue with next step.
    2. If system checks are good, continue with next step.

  5. Check for fuel load imbalance on LH and RH wing.

    1. If fuel load imbalance is more than 1100 lbs, repair as required and continue with next step.
    2. If fuel load imbalance is less than 1100 lbs, continue with next step.

  6. Ensure power to the RDCP is not interrupted and aircraft is Weight on Wheels.

    1. If there is a fault, repair as required and continue with next step.
    2. If system checks are good, continue with next step.

  7. Ensure pre-selected fuel load allocations in the Auto Mode are within the following allocations:

    • LH and RH Wing tanks fuel QTY are not more than 250 lbs above the wing tanks fuel target allocation
    • Center tank fuel QTY is not more then 250 Lbs above the center tank fuel target allocation
    • If the Pre-selected total fuel QTY is less than full wing QTY, ensure the Aft or Center tank fuel QTY is less than 250 lbs
    • If installed, Forward tank fuel QTY is not more then 250 lbs above than the Forward tank fuel target allocation

    1. If the pre-selected fuel load allocations in the Auto Mode are not within the allocations, repair as required and continue with next step.
    2. If the pre-selected fuel load allocations in the Auto Mode are within the allocations, continue with next step.

  8. Check if the SOV test is successful and "SOV FAIL" message is not displayed on the RDCP.

    1. If "SOV FAIL" message is displayed on the RDCP, troubleshoot it first and continue with next step.
    2. If "SOV FAIL" message is not displayed on the RDCP, continue with next step.

  9. During refueling, follow the below precautions:

    • If the master RDCP (whichever is selected first) is selected to off and the slave RDCP is still powered, the refueling process will abort and all R/D SOV will be disarmed. To proceed with the refueling, a new refueling selection must be made from the new Master RDCP
    • Changing the refueling mode from OFF or Auto Refuel to Manual Refuel or Manual Defuel, and anyone of the R/D SOV switch is in the OPEN position will result with a display of "INHIB" in the RDCP pre-select window until all SOV switches are selected to the CLOSE position. Then, Manual refueling or defueling can resume by selecting the SOV OPEN, as required

  10. Do close out.
