CYAN MESSAGE (STATUS)
WHITE MESSAGE Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

SOV FAIL shows on the Refuel/Defuel Control Panel when one of the Refuel Manifold Control Valves fails during refuel procedures.

Possible Causes:

  • Aft Refuel Shutoff Valve (L4)
  • Aft Refuel Shutoff Valve-Actuator
  • Left Manifold Control Valve (L5)
  • Right Manifold Control Valve (L6)
  • Center Manifold Control Valve (L7)
  • Junction Box (JB6)
  • Fuel Management and Quantity Gauging Computer (FMQGC) (A47)

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Access CAIMS Active or stored Faults. Select displayed message from menu below:

    1. If any associated CAIMS message is displayed, troubleshoot them first and continue with next step.
    2. If no associated CAIMS message is displayed, continue with next step.

  2. Check FAIL shows for the AFT tank quantity on the RDCP.

    1. If FAIL shows for the AFT tank quantity on the RDCP, replace the aft refuel shutoff-valve-actuator and do close out.
    2. If FAIL does not show for the AFT tank quantity on the RDCP, continue with the next step.

  3. Check FAIL shows for the Left, Right or CTR tank quantity on the RDCP.

    1. If FAIL does not show for the Left, Right or CTR tank quantity on the RDCP, do close out.
    2. If FAIL shows for the Left, Right or CTR tank quantity on the RDCP, continue with the next step.

  4. Replace defective Manifold Control Valve.
  5. Do close out.
