Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

The fuel quantity is blank or dashed on the REFUEL/DEFUEL Control Panel (RDCP) or the Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) display. If the quantity gauging does not operate for one Fuel Tank, the quantity of Fuel in that Tank and the total quantity show dashes on the RDCP. If the fuel quantity gauging system does not operate, all quantities on the RDCP show dashes.

  • Fuel Management and Quantity Gauging Computer (FMQGC) (A47)
  • Refuel/Defuel Control Panel (RDCP) (A46)
  • Left Densitometer (A163)
  • Center Tank Fuel Quantity Probe (C27)
  • Center Tank Fuel Quantity Probe (C29)
  • Left Wing Fuel Tank Compensator (C7)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Check if one of the fault messages that follow appears on the CAIMS PMAT.

    1. If YES, perform the applicable troubleshooting and continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace the FMQGC and continue with next step.

  2. Check if the fuel quantity show as blank or dashed on the RDCP.

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  3. Replace the RDCP.
  4. Do close out.
