Message Description:

A Hydraulic Fluid Temperature Indication that is invalid or incorrect shows on the Hydraulic synoptic Page (HSP) of the Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS). These procedures apply to the hydraulic-system temperature indicator 1, 2 and 3. Differences are identified.

Possible Causes:

  • Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 1 (A17)
  • Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 2 (A18)
  • Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 3 (A30)
  • Hydraulic System 1 Reservoir Temperature Transducer (MT138)
  • Hydraulic System 2 Reservoir Temperature Transducer (MT141)
  • Hydraulic System 3 Reservoir Temperature Transducer (MT144)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Check the invalid hydraulic-system temperature indications.

    1. If hydraulic temperature-indication 2 is invalid, go to step 3.
    2. If hydraulic temperature-indication 3 is invalid, go to step 4.
    3. If hydraulic temperature-indication 1 is invalid, continue with the next step.

  2. Disconnect the connector MT138P1 from the hydraulic temperature-transducer 1. Perform a continuity check for open circuits or short circuits between Hydraulic Temperature-Transducer 1 and DAU 1 as follows:

    From To Result
    MT138P1-A A17AP1-J3
    MT138P1-B A17AP1-H3
    MT138P1-A Ground
    MT138P1-B Ground

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with the next step.

  3. Perform the troubleshooting for observed fault "Temperature Transducer 1".

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Disconnect the connector MT141P1 from the hydraulic temperature-transducer 2. Perform a continuity check for open circuits or short circuits between Hydraulic Temperature-Transducer 2 and DAU 2 as follows:

    From To Result
    MT141P1-A A18AP1-J3
    MT141P1-B A18AP1-H3
    MT141P1-A Ground
    MT141P1-B Ground

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If the check is satisfactory, continue with next step.

  5. Perform the troubleshooting for observed fault "Temperature Transducer 2".

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  6. Disconnect the connector MT144P1 from the hydraulic temperature-transducer 3. Perform a continuity check for open circuits or short circuits between Hydraulic Temperature-Transducer 3 and DAU 3 as follows:

    From To Result
    MT144P1-A A30AP1-J3
    MT144P1-B A30AP1-H3
    MT144P1-A Ground
    MT144P1-B Ground

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If the check is satisfactory, continue with next step.

  7. Perform the troubleshooting for observed fault "Temperature transducer 3".
  8. Do close out.
