Message Overview:

Message Name:

BRAKE TEMPERATURE SENSOR (BTS) REPETITIVE FAILURES

Identifier: 324OBS005
Effectivity: ALL
System: Brake Control System
System Description: 30-31-00 - Air Data Probes and Sensors
Schematic Diagram: [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ] 30-31-03 - Brake Temperature Monitoring Electrical Schematic
Wiring Diagram: [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ] 30-31-03 - Brake Temperature Monitoring

Message Description:

Brake Temperature Sensor (BTS) erroneous value or dashed out EICAS indications.

Possible Causes:

  • Brake Temperature Sensor (BTS)
  • Main Landing Gear servicing
  • Brake Wheel Assembly Configuration

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin: None
Full Throttle Blog/Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: None
Flight Operation Notifications Manual (FONM): None

NOTES:

  • During removal and installation of the BTS, care must be taken to avoid dropping or deforming the components, as such mishandling may compromise sensor integrity. As a recommended practice, retracting the brake assembly can provide additional clearance, thereby facilitating safer and more accurate sensor placement. Refer to NOTE in Job Set-Up AMM TASK 32−43−61−000−801 Removal of the Brake Temperature Sensor.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Inspect Probe IntegrityEnsure the Brake Temperature Sensor (BTS) probe has not been bent during installation. Pay particular attention to installations not performed in accordance with AMM 32-43-61-400-801.

    1. If the fault is

  2. Verify Shock Strut ServicingConfirm that the MLG shock strut are properly serviced to minimize vibration and impact loads. AMM 12−15−00−614−802 Servicing of the Main Landing−Gear Shock−Strut with Jacks
  3. Reposition Brake Assembly: Interchange the brake assembly to an alternate wheel position to alter vibration characteristics. AMM 32−43−13−000−801 Removal / 32−43−13−400−801 Installation of the Brake Unit
  4. Reposition Tire AssemblyInterchange the tire to a different location to further influence vibration frequency and distribution. AMM 32−41−01−000−801 Removal / 32−41−01−400−801 Installation of the Main Wheel and Tire
  5. If the problem continues after implementing the above steps, consider replacing the brake assembly entirely.
