These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

Nose Gear Landing Light or Lights do not come ON.

Possible Causes:

  • External Lights Control Panel (AP11)
  • Nose Landing Gear (NLG) Light bulb
  • Left Nose Landing Gear (NLG) Light (DS28)
  • Right Nose Landing Gear (NLG) Light (DS29)
  • Nose Landing Gear (NLG) Switch (S7)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Set the NLG light switch to ON.

    1. If both NLG landing lights do not comes on, replace the EXTERNAL LIGHTS Control Panel and do close out.
    2. If only one of the two NLG landing light does not come on, continue with next step.

  2. Measure the voltage at the applicable connectors that follow:

    From To Expected Result Result
    DS29P1-A DS29P1-B 115 VDC
    DS28P1-A DS28P1-B 115 VDC

    1. If there is no voltage, repair the defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is voltage, continue with next step.

  3. Replace the bulb of the applicable unserviceable nose gear landing light.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Replace the Nose Gear Landing Light.
  5. Do close out.
