Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Remove the LH MASTER WARNING/CAUTION panel and HUD computer to gain access to GLARESHIELD L/H PBA CONTROL PANEL connector (AP15P2) and HEAD-UP FLIGHT DISPLAY COMPUTER (A250FP1). Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    AP15P2-4 A250FP1-4

    1. If there is continuity, go to step 4.
    2. If there is no continuity, repair defective associated wiring as required and continue with next step.

  2. Remove the JB4 to get access to JUNCTION BOX 4 connector (JB4BP1). Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    JB4BP1-18 JB4BP1-19
    JB4BP1-18 JB4BP1-20

    1. If there is no continuity, repair the defective wiring as required and continue with next step.
    2. If there is continuity, replace the JB4 circuit card PCB4 and continue with next step.

  3. Install the JB4 junction box, MASTER WARNING/CAUTION panel and the HUD computer. Perform the operational test of the HUD system.

    1. If the operational test is satisfactory, do close out.
    2. If the operational test is not satisfactory, continue with next step.

  4. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    AP15P2-6 GS1028

    1. If there is continuity, repair or replace the defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  5. Rotate the switch from the OFF position. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    AP15J2-6 AP15J2-4

    1. If there is no continuity, go to step 8.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  6. Check if the head-up-display (HUD) control panel provide variable intensity through the HUD DIM/BRT control.

    1. If the HUD control panel provides the variable intensity, do close out.
    2. If the HUD control panel does not provide the variable intensity, continue with next step.

  7. Remove the LH MASTER WARNING/CAUTION panel to gain access to connector (AP15P2), disconnect the connector (A251P2) for the HUD optical projector unit. Perform a continuity check for an open circuit or a short circuit to ground between the connectors GLARESHIELD L/H PBA CONTROL PANEL (AP15P2) and OPTICAL PROJECTOR UNIT (A251P2).

    From To Result
    AP15P2-3 A251P2-11
    AP15P2-1 A251P2-2
    AP15P2-2 A251P2-1

    1. If there is no continuity, repair the defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  8. Replace the defective rotary switch/potentiometer (S1/R49).
  9. Do close out.
