Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

The aural and/or the visual warning for the Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS) failed to come on during an alert condition.

Possible Causes:

  • Traffic/Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) (A7)
  • Ground Proximity Warning System (GPWS) (A64)
  • Audio Panel 1 (A8)
  • Audio Panel 2 (A9)
  • Audio Panel 3 (A215)
  • Associated Wiring

NOTE: The TCAS Cooling fan does not have a monitoring device to report malfunction. Make sure you perform the Operational Test of the Traffic/Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) Cooling Fan while performing the troubleshooting Recommendations below.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Perform wiring checks between TCAS Receiver/Transmitter, Audio panels and TM113.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.
      NOTE: Remove all interface components for short circuit checks.

  2. Replace defective Audio Panel.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  3. Replace TM113.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Replace EGPWS Computer.
  5. Do close out.
