Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

The amber WX legend and the related two-digit fault code(s) show in the status window of the Multi Function Display (MFD).

Possible Causes:

  • SCAN Switch
  • XMIT Switch
  • Weather Radar Receiver/Transmitter and Antenna (A125)
  • Weather Radar Control Panel 1 (A122)
  • Weather Radar Control Panel 2 (A92)
  • Weather Radar Switch

NOTE: The WX legend and fault codes show on the MFD only when the WXR system is in the test mode and a fault occurs.

WARNING: BEFORE YOU CONNECT ELECTRICAL POWER TO THE AIRCRAFT, MAKE SURE THAT YOU SET THE WEATHER RADAR CONTROL-PANELS TO “OFF” OR “SBY” AND THE “TILT” CONTROL TO THE FULLY UP POSITION. THIS IS TO GIVE PROTECTION TO PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT FROM HIGH-ENERGY MICROWAVE TRANSMISSIONS.

WARNING: DO NOT OPERATE OR DO A TEST OF THE WEATHER RADAR SYSTEM IF THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT (IN THE FORWARD 270 DEGREES SECTOR) IS IN ONE OF THE CONDITIONS THAT FOLLOW:

  • LESS THAN 10 FT (3 M) FROM FLAMMABLE MATERIALS
  • LESS THAN 33 FT (10 M) FROM PERSONNEL
  • LESS THAN 165 FT (50 M) FROM LARGE METAL OBJECTS
  • LESS THAN 330 FT (100 M) FROM ALL REFUELING OPERATIONSTHIS IS TO GIVE PROTECTION TO PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT FROM HIGH-ENERGY MICROWAVE TRANSMISSIONS

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Access CAIMS Active or Stored Faults. Select displayed message from menu below:

    1. If any of the CAIMS message is displayed, troubleshoot them first and continue with next step.
    2. If no associated CAIMS message is displayed, continue with next step.

  2. Check if the SCAN and XMIT switches are set to ON position.

    1. If the switches are in ON position, do close out.
    2. If the switches are not set to ON position, continue with next step.

  3. Use a non-conductive tool to change the position of the switch.
  4. Do close out.
