Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

Weather Radar Receiver/Transmitter Antenna (RTA) does not communicate with the Integrated Avionics Computers (IACs) via the RS-422 buses, when is powered and not selected to OFF (on any Weather Radar Control Panels). May also be associated CAIMS messages: FWC 1(2) (3)-WX/GPWS FAULT.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Ensure that the RTA is powered via the SPDA and weather radar controllers are selected to STBY (or any position other than OFF).
  2. On the CAIMS PMAT, get access to system diagnostics and perform IAC-EDS, IAC EDS/Core Test, WX-R/T P880 interface test following the set up instructions on the PMAT.
    NOTE: Run this test on all FWC, If not associated to a specific CAIMS message to a particular FWC.
  3. After each test is completed, look at the TEST RESULTS page and record the fault type 43XX and code XX.
  4. Perform IMT fault code look up procedure and follow the associated troubleshooting procedure.
  5. Do close out.
