Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. On the CAIMS PMAT, get access to the active faults.

    1. If the fault message FADEC CONTROLLER shows on the CAIMS PMAT, go to step 12.
    2. If APU DOOR FAIL (Caution) show on the EICAS primary display, continue with next step.

  2. Examine the inlet door for blockage.

    1. If the inlet door has blockage, remove the blockage from the inlet door and do close out.
    2. If the inlet door has no blockage, continue with next step.

  3. Start the APU and operate the APU with no load for a minimum of two minutes.
  4. Perform an APU shutdown (normal).

    1. If APU DOOR FAIL (Caution) does not show on the EICAS primary display, do close out.
    2. If APU DOOR FAIL (Caution) still show on the EICAS primary display, continue with next step.

  5. Examine the linear actuator (A199) receptacle for contamination and damage.

    1. If linear actuator (A199) receptacle has contamination or damage, replace linear actuator (A199) and do close out.
    2. If linear actuator (A199) receptacle has no contamination or damage, continue with next step.

  6. Perform a resistance check as follows:

    From To Expected Result Result
    A199-A Ground >1 Megaohm
    A199-C Ground >1 Megaohm

    1. If the resistance values are not as specified, repair as required and do close out.
    2. If the resistance values are as specified, continue with next step.

  7. Perform wiring checks between APU (P803) and Linear actuator (A199P1).

    1. If the wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If the wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  8. Perform a resistance check as follows:

    From To Expected Result Result
    A199P1-A Ground >1 Megaohm
    A199P1-B Ground >1 Megaohm
    A199P1-C Ground >1 Megaohm
    A199P1-D Ground >1 Megaohm

    1. If the resistance values are not as specified, repair as required and do close out.
    2. If the resistance values are as specified, continue with next step.

  9. Perform a resistance check as follows:

    From To Expected Result Result
    J803-L Ground <3 Ohms
    A48P1-e Ground <3 Ohms

    1. If the resistance values are not as specified, repair as required and do close out.
    2. If the resistance values are as specified, continue with next step.

  10. Perform a resistance check as follows:

    From To Expected Result Result
    J803-E Ground <3 Ohms
    J803-F Ground <3 Ohms
    A108BP1-C4 Ground <3 Ohms
    A108BP1-D4 Ground <3 Ohms

    1. If the resistance values are not as specified, repair as required and do close out.
    2. If the resistance values are as specified, continue with next step.

  11. Perform a resistance check as follows:

    From To Expected Result Result
    J803-E Ground >1 Megaohm
    J803-F Ground >1 Megaohm

    1. If the resistance values are not as specified, repair as required and do close out.
    2. If the resistance values are as specified, continue with next step.

  12. Replace FADEC.
  13. Do close out.
