Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Oil Quantity indication on Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) is replaced with amber dashes.

Possible Causes:

  • APU Oil Level Sensor (MT2)
  • APU Full-Authority Digital Engine Controller (FADEC) (A108)
  • Associated Wiring

  • AW700-49-0546 - Dashing indication with the use of MOBIL 254 oil

NOTE: The oil quantity can be read through CAIMS at all times. Oil quantity can also be read physically through the APU gravity oil servicing cap.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Familiarize yourself with the content of AW700-49-0546 and see if condition applies to your issue.
  2. Using the PMAT, access CAIMS, SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS. Select ATA 49, CONTROLLER (FADEC), LRU TEST. Select APU DATA STATUS - PAGE 1.

    1. If the APU oil level can be read, follow the recommendations of AW700-49-0546 and do close out.
    2. If the APU oil level cannot be read, continue with next step.

  3. Disconnect APU oil level sensor connector (MT2P1) and APU FADEC connector (A108BP1). Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    MT2P1-B Ground
    MT2P1-H Ground
    MT2P1-E Ground

    1. If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  4. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    MT2P1-B A108BP1-F1
    MT2P1-H A108BP1-K2
    MT2P1-E A108BP1-H4

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  5. Replace the APU oil level sensor. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  6. Replace APU FADEC.
  7. Do close out.
