Message Description:

The Infrared Window (IRW) and/or fairing is not heated. There is a loss of heater control. The Enhanced Vision System (EVS) image may become degraded.

Possible Causes:

  • Enhanced Vision System Heater Controller (EVSHC) (A315)
  • Infrared Window (IRW) (A320)
  • Enhanced Vision System (EVS) Fairing (HR30)
  • Secondary Power Distribution Assembly (SPDA) 3 (A15)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin:

  • AW700-34-0460 - Enhanced Vision System Heater Controller (EVSHC) nuisance fault on power-up
  • AW700-45-0065 - CAIMS Nuisance Fault Messages

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Check status of AC 1 FEED on EMS CDU, the AC 1 Feed being out or tripped can drive multiple CAS to post.
    BUS > AC 1 > AC 1 FEED.

    1. If AC 1 FEED CB is IN go to step 3.
    2. If AC 1 FEED CB is OUT, set to IN.
    3. AC 1 FEED

  2. Did the CAIMS Fault & CAS messages clear after setting AC 1 FEED CB to IN.

    1. If YES, do close out.
    2. If NO, go to next step.

  3. Access CAIMS Active Faults.
  4. Select related CAIMS message from the menu below:
  5. If no CAIMS messages are available, continue with next step.
  6. On the EMS CDU, make sure the "EVS HEAT CTRL" circuit breaker is set to "IN". If YES, momentarily set it to "OUT" and reset it back to "IN". Is the fault still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  7. Disconnect EVSHC connector A315P1. Power up the A/C and do a 28 VDC voltage check as follows:

    From To Result
    A315P1-L A315P1-K

    1. If there is 28 VDC, continue with next step.
    2. If there is no 28 VDC, perform wiring checks between the EVSHC and SPDA3 A15P3 pin L. If wiring good, investigate SPDA3.

  8. Perform wiring checks between the EVS Heater Controller (EVSHC) and the EVS Fairing and EVS Window using the EVSHC Troubleshooting Table.
  9. Do a wiring check of the wiring interface between the EVSHC and DAU 2.
  10. Replace EVSHC.
  11. Do close out.
