Message Description:

The Outboard Brake Pressure is detected being < 1400 PSI by the Outboard Brake Pressure Switch (system 2).

Possible Causes:

  • Hydraulic System 2 Pressure is < 1400 PSI
  • System (SYS) 2 Brake Pressure Switch (S7)
  • Brake Control Unit (BCU) (A71)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin:

  • AW700-32-0359 - Brake Control System - Data Gathering to Reduce the Brake Control Unit (BCU) No-Fault-Found (NFF) rate
  • AW700-32-0513 - Wheel Speed Transducer - Brake System Nuisance Fault Messages

Brake Control System (BCS) NFF Action:

  • To support the technical investigation, FSRs and Service Centers are requested to perform an NVM download, complete a condition report and fill a BCS questionnaire when troubleshooting or removing a Brake component.

NOTES:

  • To avoid unnecessary replacement of BCS part due to Brake related CAS nuisance message, before troubleshooting, follow AW700-32-0513 instructions

    • Proceed to a QAR (if available) download of the last three flights (Aircraft meeting FAR part 135.172.), SB700-31-020
    • BCU NVM download
    • IAC CAS messages download

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Using CAIMS, Access BRAKE CONTROL SYSTEM DATA PAGES under ATA 32 "BCU".
  2. Pressurize the hydraulic system 2.
  3. Confirm on the EICAS that 3000 PSI is present on Hydraulic System 2.
  4. If 3000 PSI is not present, troubleshoot the Hydraulic System.
  5. Under the SYSTEM DATA PAGES, monitor the "Inlet Pressure Switch" position. Make sure that "PRESSURE" is shown for both channels of the System 2 Pressure Switch.

    1. If pressure is shown, do close out.
    2. If pressure is not shown, continue with next step.

  6. Interchange Inboard and Outboard Pressure Switches. Is the fault still present on the same side?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, replace defective pressure switch.

  7. Perform a wiring check between the BCU and the OUTBOARD Pressure Switch.

    1. If defects are found, repair defective wiring as required.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  8. Replace the BCU.
  9. Do close out.
