Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. On the PMAT, access CAIMS Active Faults. Are there any other APU GCU or APU Generator related faults?

    1. If YES, troubleshoot these messages first.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  2. In CAIMS, select SYSTEM DIAG, ATA 49, CONTROLLER (FADEC) and make a selection of LRU TEST. Select APU STATUS. Does the GENERATOR READY TO LOAD SIGNAL show as active?

    1. If YES, go to step 4.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  3. Re-rack the APU FADEC properly. Is the fault resolved?

    1. If YES, do close out.
    2. If NO, replace APU FADEC.

  4. Swap APU GCU with GCU 2 or 3. Is the fault resolved?

    1. If YES, replace APU GCU and do close out.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  5. Disconnect APU FADEC connector A108BP1. Disconnect APU GCU connector A109P2. Do a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A109P2-38 Ground

    1. If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  6. Do a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A109P2-38 A108BP1-A4

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  7. Access the ACPC Logic assembly. Remove PLC 1, PLC 2 and PLC 3. Do a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A109P2-58 Ground

    1. If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required or replace ACPC if defect is in ACPC and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  8. Do a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A109P2-58 P315A-7
    A109P2-58 P115A-7
    A109P2-58 P415A-7

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required or replace ACPC if defect is in ACPC and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  9. Reinstall PLC 2 and PLC 3 only. Apply power to the A/C. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, replace defective PLC and do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  10. Remove power from the A/C. Remove PLC 2 and reinstall PLC 1. Apply power to the A/C. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, replace defective PLC and do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  11. Remove power from the A/C. Remove PLC 3 and reinstall PLC 2. Apply power to the A/C. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, replace defective PLC and do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  12. Replace the APU VFG.
  13. Do close out.
