Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Perform a complete Aircraft power reset (EXT AC AVAIL light is OFF). Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  2. Access the EMS CDU Signboard menu as follows:

    1. Push the SYSTEM - CNTL key
    2. Push the lower left Line Select Key (LSK)
    3. Push the lower right LSK
    4. Select "SPDA 4 IN"
    5. Record labels 353 to 356 in the table below:

      Left Column Center Column
      29 28 27 26 25 24 23 22 21 20 19 18 17 16 15 14
      Label 353
      Label 354
      Label 355
      Label 356

  3. Based on the labels and bits recorded previously (Bit(s) set to "1" only), swap SPDA 4 with the corresponding position marked with an "X" in the table below. By doing so, there is a chance that the ELEC SYS FAIL CAS message will become ELEC SYS FAULT instead.

    1. If YES, replace SPDA 4 and do close out.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

      Bit(s) set to "1" SPDA 1 SPDA 2 SPDA 3 SPDA 4
      Label 353 Bit 28 X
      Label 354 Bit 16-15 X
      Label 355 Bit 29-28-27 X
      Label 356 Bit 21-20-19 X
      Label 356 Bit 29-28-27-25-24-23 X

  4. Is the ELEC SYS FAIL CAS message posted? (the associated CAIMS message should reflect the new position of the failed SPDA).

    1. If YES, go to step 7.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  5. Is the ELEC SYS FAULT CAS message posted?

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  6. If dispatch is required, ensure that the ELEC SYS FAULT CAS message is related to the new position of SPDA 4. Is dispatch required?

    1. If YES, apply DDG conditions to allow dispatch and do close out.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  7. Replace SPDA 4.
  8. Do close out.
