Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

Fault conditions that cannot be reset with the Slat/Flap Control Handle and is inhibiting the slat and/or flap system operation controlled by the Slat Flap Control Unit 1.

Possible Causes:

  • Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) 1 (A124)
  • Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) 2 (A95)

Criteria that can latch the SFCU:

  • Slat/flap control handle fault (latched first time)
  • Slat or flap motor over-temperature fault (latched second time)
  • Under-speed fault or jam condition (latched third time)
  • Invalid SFCU ID fault (latched first time)
  • Uncommanded motion fault (latched third time)
  • Over-speed fault (latched first time)
  • Asymmetry fault (latched first time)
  • Flap skew fault (latched first time)
  • Slat motor wiring fault or flap motor wiring fault

Performing a SLAT FLAP RESET on the EMS CDU may clear this message. The latched fault can be cleared by doing the AMM 27−51−05−910−801 "Clear Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) Latched Faults".

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. When SFCU 1 or 2 is reporting another fault in CAIMS, perform the troubleshooting of the other CAIMS fault.
  2. Do close out.
