Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

One of the conditions that follow occurs:

  • Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) 2 does not receive input from the Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 4 Channel A
  • The data is invaliD

NOTE: The DAU needs to get both channel failed in order to post this fault.

Possible Causes:

  • Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 4 (A31)
  • Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) 2 (A95)
  • Associated Wiring

This fault may be posted due to the SFCU powering up prior to the DAU#4. This fault will clear automatically when the DAU#4 powers up and provides the General purpose ARINC 429 information. Performing a SLAT FLAP RESET on the EMS CDU may clear this fault.

NOTE: Wait at least one minute after SFCU reset to allow self test to run.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Perform troubleshooting to related systems if the DAU 4 is reporting a fault.
    NOTE:

    • Other LRU’s receiving the DAU 4 channel A ARINC inputs are: CPC 2, SPC CH. B, EGPWS, ACSC 2, EVMU, BMC 2 and LGECU
    • Other LRU’s receiving the DAU 4 channel B ARINC inputs are: CPC 2, SPC CH. B, ACSC 2, EVMU and BMC 2

  2. Swap SFCU 2 with SFCU 1.

    1. If system checks are good, replace SFCU 2 and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  3. Replace DAU 4.
  4. Do close out.
