These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

There is a problem with the Stab Trim Push Button.

Possible Causes:

  • Stab Trim CH 1 Switch (SDS1)
  • AIL/RUD/Stab Trims Control Panel (AP20)
  • Flight Control Unit (FCU) 1 (A65)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Remove the FCU 1 to get access to electrical connector A65AP1 and disconnect the connector AP20P1 from the stab trim pushbutton 1. Perform a continuity check to ground between the pins of the connectors as follows:

    From To Result
    A65AP1-7A AP20P1-E

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If the is continuity, continue with next step.

  2. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A65AP1-7A Ground

    1. If there is continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  3. Replace the Stab Trim CH 1 switch or control panel. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  4. Replace FCU 1.
  5. Do close out.
