Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

There is a problem with the Spoiler Control Lever. This fault has been detected by the Flight Control Unit 1

The difference between the 2 channels exceeds either:

  • 8 deg with a confirmation delay of 600 ms or
  • 3 deg with a confirmation delay of 1.5 s

Possible Causes:

  • Flight Spoiler Control Lever (FSCL) (MT135)
  • Flight Control Unit (FCU) 1 (A65)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

This fault may sometime be cleared by performing the flight control system reset procedure. If the message comes back more then once within 10 flight legs, troubleshooting is required.

The spoiler control lever can be verified in CAIMS:

  1. SYSTEM DIAG
  2. 27-00 FLIGHT CONTROLS
  3. FLIGHT CONTROL UNIT #1
  4. LRU TEST
  5. DISPLAY SPOILER DATA
  6. Go to page 3/3
    NOTE: Confirm the spoiler lever position on channel A and B.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Swap FCU 1 with FCU 2.

    1. If system checks are good, replace FCU 1. Reset FCUs latched faults and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  2. Perform wiring checks between FCU 1 to the Flight Spoiler Control Lever (MT135).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  3. Replace Flight Spoiler Control Lever.
  4. Do close out.
