Fault Description:

R DC AUX PUMP/PRES SWITCH/WRG FAULT shows on the CAIMS PMAT when the conditions that follow occur:

  • The R WING FEED INHIBIT AUX PUMP Push-Button on the FUEL Control Panel is not set to OFF
  • The Right Aux Pump command is on
  • The Right Aux-Pump Pressure-Indication is low
  • The Electrical Management System (EMS) / AC Power Center (ACPC) has not failed or,
  • The R WING FEED INHIBIT AUX PUMP Push-Button on the FUEL Control Panel is set to OFF or the Right Aux Pump command is off
  • The Right Aux-Pump Pressure-Indication is high
  • The EMS/SPDA has not failed

Possible Causes:

  • Fuel Control Panel (AP5)
  • DC Auxiliary-Pump Canister
  • Right DC Auxiliary Pump-Cartridge (B24)
  • Right DC Auxiliary-Pump Pressure-Switch (S17)
  • Fuel Management and Quantity Gauging Computer (FMQGC) (A47)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Check that the R WING FEED INHIBIT AUX PUMP pushbutton on the FUEL control panel is ON. Select the RIGHT TO LEFT XFLOW page in CAIMS on the PMAT. Select TURN RIGHT DC (FEED) PUMP ON. Is the PUMP PRESSURE "Not Low"?

    1. If YES, go to step 14.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  2. Select OPEN RIGHT XFLOW VALVE from the RIGHT TO LEFT XFLOW page. Check if the fuel quantity increases in the left wing tank.

    1. If the fuel quantity increases in the left wing tank, go to step 7.
    2. If the fuel quantity does not increase in the left wing tank, continue with next step.

  3. Check if there is 28±2 VDC at B24P1-A.

    1. If check is good, replace the Right DC Aux-Pump Cartridge and go to step 18.
    2. If check is not good, continue with next step.

  4. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A94P2-45 Ground
    A91P2-45 Ground

    1. If there is continuity, go to step 19.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  5. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    AP5P2-38 Ground

    1. If there is continuity, go to step 22.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  6. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A47DP1-J14 Ground

    1. If there is continuity, repair or replace defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, go to step 33.

  7. Set the R WING FEED INHIBIT AUX PUMP pushbutton on the FUEL control panel to OFF. Select the RIGHT TO LEFT XFLOW page on the CAIMS PMAT. Is the PUMP PRESSURE "Not Low"?

    1. If NO, go to step 11.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  8. Select OPEN LEFT XFLOW VALVE from the RIGHT TO LEFT XFLOW page. Check if the fuel quantity stays the same in the left wing tank.

    1. If YES, go to step 23.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  9. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    1. If there is continuity, perform the troubleshooting for the EMS/SPDA.
    2. If there is no continuity, continue with next step.

  10. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    1. If there is continuity, repair or replace defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, go to step 32.

  11. Check that the R WING FEED INHIBIT AUX PUMP pushbutton is not set to OFF. Select TURN RIGHT DC (FEED) PUMP OFF from the RIGHT TO LEFT XFLOW page on the CAIMS PMAT. Is the PUMP PRESSURE "Low"?

    1. If YES, go to step 24.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  12. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A94P2-45 Ground
    A91P2-45 Ground

    1. If there is no continuity, perform the troubleshooting for the EMS/SPDA.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  13. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    AP5P1-64 Ground
    AP5P2-63 Ground

    1. If there is continuity, go to step 27.
    2. If there is no continuity, repair or replace defective wiring as required and do close out.

  14. Select the COCKPIT FUEL PANEL PAGE 4 on the CAIMS PMAT. Is the RIGHT AUX PUMP INHIBIT PANEL SWITCH status "Lamp Off"?

    1. If YES, go to step 31.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  15. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    1. If there is no continuity, go to step 32.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  16. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    A47DP1-G15 Ground

    1. If there is continuity, repair or replace defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity, go to step 33.

  17. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    1. If there is no continuity, repair or replace defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, go to step 31.

  18. Perform a operational test of the DC Aux Pump. Is the operational test satisfactory?

    1. If it is satisfactory, do close out.
    2. If it is not satisfactory, replace the Right DC Aux-Pump Canister and do close out.

  19. Check if there is 28±3 VDC at SPDA3 (A15P1-e).

    1. If check is good, repair or replace defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If check is not good, continue with next step.

  20. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    1. If there is no continuity, perform the troubleshooting for the EMS/SPDA.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  21. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    1. If there is no continuity, repair or replace defective wiring as required and do close out.

  23. Check if there is a short circuit and an open circuit within Right AUX DC Pump Switch as follows:

    1. If there is no continuity, repair or replace defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, go to step 31.

  24. Select the COCKPIT FUEL PANEL DATA PAGE 4 on the CAIMS PMAT. Is the RIGHT AUX PUMP INHIBIT PANEL SWITCH status is "Lamp Off"?

    1. If YES, do close out.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  25. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    1. If YES, select the fault message in the above menu list and perform the applicable troubleshooting.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  29. Check if the following fault messages shows on the CAIMS PMAT.

    1. If YES, select the fault message in the above menu list and perform the applicable troubleshooting.
    2. If NO, continue with next step.

  30. Perform a continuity check as follows:

    From To Result
    A47DP1-B14 Ground

    1. If there is no continuity, repair or replace defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  31. Replace Right DC Aux-Pump Pressure-Switch.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  32. Replace FUEL Control Panel.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  33. Replace the FMQGC.
  34. Do close out.
