Fault Description:

R AFT TRNS PUMP PRES SWITCH/WRG FLT shows when both Left AFT Transfer-Pump Pressure-Switch status are high or low at the same time. The pressure switch contacts and signals to the Fuel Management and Quantity Gauging Computer (FMQGC) have two status. One is normally shorted to ground and the other is open. They have to be complimentary otherwise the FMQGC will consider the switch failed.

Possible Causes:

  • Right AFT Transfer Pump (B35)
  • Right AFT Transfer-Pump Pressure-Switch (S23)
  • Fuel Management and Quantity Gauging Computer (FMQGC) (A47)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Check for Message.

    1. If the message is present while the transfer pump is set to 'OFF', continue with next step.
    2. If message is present while transfer pump is set to 'ON', go to step 3.

  2. With A/C power off and fuel system unpressurized, perform a continuity check on FMQGC connector A47DP1-A11.

    1. If there is continuity to ground on pin A11, investigate wiring interface and/or replace pressure switch and do close out.
    2. If there is no continuity to ground, continue with next step.

  3. Swap the right aft transfer pump pressure switch with the left aft transfer pump pressure switch. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, replace right aft transfer pump pressure switch and do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  4. Make sure the right aft transfer occurs when the pump is set top 'ON'.

    1. If fuel transfer does not occur, investigate the fuel pump.
    2. If fuel transfer occurs, continue with next step

  5. Remove the FMQGC and re-install it, making sure it is properly and fully inserted into place. Is the fault still present?

    1. If NO, do close out.
    2. If YES, continue with next step.

  6. Replace FMQGC.
  7. Do close out.
