Fault Description:
The Nose Wheel Steering Control Unit (SCU) has detected a failure or mismatch with the Position Feedback Linear Variable Differential-Transformers (LVDTs).
Possible Causes:
- Right Steering Actuator Feedback Position-linear Variable Differential-Transformer (LVDT) (MT16)
- Left Steering Actuator Feedback Position-linear Variable Differential-Transformer (LVDT) (MT17)
- Steering Control Unit (SCU) (A36)
- Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:
- Re-seat the SCU.
- If system checks are good, do close out.
- If fault remains, continue with next step.
- Perform a wiring check between the SCU (A36P1), the LH Steering Actuator LVDT (MT17) and the RH Steering Actuator LVDT (MT16).
- If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
- If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.
NOTE: While wiring checks are being accomplished have a second person 'shake down' wiring along the top side of the actuators. Inspect wiring on Actuators carefully for extreme bends and kinks or breaks.
- Perform the Rigging of the Nosewheel Steering Control System.
- If system checks are good, do close out.
- If fault remains, continue with next step.
- Replace the defective Steering Actuators.
- If system checks are good, do close out.
- If fault remains, continue with next step.
- Replace the SCU.
- Do close out.
