Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

When a Wing Leading Edge Over Temperature condition is detected and the condition is not related to the Wing Anti-Ice Valve (WAIV).

Possible Causes:

  • Bleed Management Controller (BMC) 1 (A69)
  • Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 3 (A30)
  • Wing Anti-Ice Valve (WAIV)
  • Left Inboard Anti-Icing Temperature Sensor (E39)
  • Left Outboard Anti-Icing Temperature Sensor (E38)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Perform wiring checks between Left INBD WAITS, Left OUTBD WAITS, DAU 3 and BMC 1.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  2. Measure resistance of the INBD and OUTBD WAITS sensing elements. Resistance values are listed in the table below:

    1. If the measured resistance is different from the table, replace faulty WAITS sensing elements and do close out.
    2. If the measured resistance is same as the above table, continue with next step.

  3. Interchange DAU 3 with DAU 1.

    1. If system checks are good, replace DAU 3 and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  4. Replace BMC 1.
  5. Do close out.
