Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Examine the engine branched wiring-harness for bare wiring, kinks, worn areas and other damage (WM 49-12).

    1. If there is bare wiring, kinks, worn areas or other damage, replace engine branched wiring harness and do close out.
    2. If there is no bare wiring, kinks, worn areas or other damage, continue with next step.

  2. Check any of the messages that follow show on the CAIMS PMAT

    1. If the fault message exists, troubleshoot it first and continue with next step.
    2. If the fault message does not exists, continue with next step.

  3. Examine the oil temperature sensor (MT6) receptacle for contamination and damage.

    1. If contamination or damage is found, go to step 16.
    2. If contamination or damage is not found, continue with next step.

  4. Check any of the messages that follow show on the CAIMS PMAT

    • SIG SHORT - OIL TEMP SENSOR/WIRING
    • GND SHORT - OIL TEMP SENSOR/WIRING

    1. If the fault message exists, troubleshoot it first and continue with next step.
    2. If the fault message does not exists, continue with next step.

  5. Perform a continuity check within oil temperature sensor (MT6) receptacle (WM 49-12). The resistance should measure as follows:

    From To Expected Result Result
    MT6P1-A MT6P1-B 50 to 250 ohms

    1. If the resistance value is not within the range, go to step 16.
    2. If the resistance value is within the range, continue with next step.

  6. Check any of the messages that follow still show on the CAIMS PMAT.

    • SIG SHORT - OIL TEMP SENSOR/WIRING
    • GND SHORT - OIL TEMP SENSOR/WIRING

    1. If the fault message exists, troubleshoot it first and continue with next step.
    2. If the fault message does not exists, continue with next step.

  7. Perform a continuity check between oil temperature sensor (MT6) and the ground shell (WM 49-12). The resistance should measure as follows:

    From To Expected Result Result
    MT6P1-A Ground >1 megohm
    MT6P1-B Ground >1 megohm

    1. If resistance value is not more than one megaohm for each wire, go to step 16.
    2. If resistance value is more than one megaohm for each wire, continue with next step.

  8. Check any of the messages that follow still show on the CAIMS PMAT.

    • SIG SHORT - OIL TEMP SENSOR/WIRING
    • GND SHORT - OIL TEMP SENSOR/WIRING

    1. If the fault message exists, troubleshoot it first and continue with next step.
    2. If the fault message does not exists, continue with next step.

  9. Perform a continuity check within oil temperature sensor (MT6) connector (WM 49-12). The resistance should measure as follows:

    From To Expected Result Result
    MT6P1-A MT6P1-B >1 megohm

    1. If resistance value is not more than one megaohm for each wire, replace the engine branched wiring-harness and do close out.
    2. If resistance value is more than one megaohm for each wire, continue with next step.

  10. Check any of the messages that follow still show on the CAIMS PMAT.

    • SIG SHORT - OIL TEMP SENSOR/WIRING
    • GND SHORT - OIL TEMP SENSOR/WIRING

    1. If the fault message exists, troubleshoot it first and continue with next step.
    2. If the fault message does not exists, continue with next step.

  11. Perform a continuity check between each pin that follows and the ground shell (WM 49-12). The resistance should measure as follows:

    From To Expected Result Result
    P802-6 Ground >1 megohm
    P802-7 Ground >1 megohm
    P802-56 Ground >1 megohm
    MT6P1-A Ground >1 megohm
    MT6P1-B Ground >1 megohm

    1. If resistance value is not more than one megaohm for each wire, replace the engine branched wiring-harness and do close out.
    2. If resistance value is more than one megaohm for each wire, continue with next step.

  12. Check any of the messages that follow still show on the CAIMS PMAT.

    • SIG SHORT - OIL TEMP SENSOR/WIRING
    • GND SHORT - OIL TEMP SENSOR/WIRING

    1. If the fault message exists, troubleshoot it first and continue with next step.
    2. If the fault message does not exists, continue with next step.

  13. Perform a wiring check between aircraft wiring harness J802 and P802.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  14. Check any of the messages that follow still show on the CAIMS PMAT.

    • SIG SHORT - OIL TEMP SENSOR/WIRING
    • GND SHORT - OIL TEMP SENSOR/WIRING

    1. If the fault message exists, troubleshoot it first and continue with next step.
    2. If the fault message does not exists, continue with next step.

  15. Perform a continuity check between each pin that follows and the ground shell (WM 49-61). The resistance should measure as follows:

    From To Expected Result Result
