Troubleshooting Recommendations:
- Examine the engine branched wiring-harness for bare wiring, kinks, worn areas and other damage (WM 49-12).
- If there is bare wiring, kinks, worn areas or other damage, replace engine branched wiring harness and do close out.
- If there is no bare wiring, kinks, worn areas or other damage, continue with next step.
- Check any of the messages that follow show on the CAIMS PMAT
- SIG SHORT - OIL TEMP SENSOR/WIRING
- GND SHORT - OIL TEMP SENSOR/WIRING
- If the fault message exists, troubleshoot it first and continue with next step.
- If the fault message does not exists, continue with next step.
- Examine the oil temperature sensor (MT6) receptacle for contamination and damage.
- If contamination or damage is found, go to step 16.
- If contamination or damage is not found, continue with next step.
- Perform a continuity check within oil temperature sensor (MT6) receptacle (WM 49-12). The resistance should measure as follows:
From To Expected Result Result MT6P1-A MT6P1-B 50 to 250 ohms - If the resistance value is not within the range, go to step 16.
- If the resistance value is within the range, continue with next step.
- Check any of the messages that follow still show on the CAIMS PMAT.
- SIG SHORT - OIL TEMP SENSOR/WIRING
- GND SHORT - OIL TEMP SENSOR/WIRING
- If the fault message exists, troubleshoot it first and continue with next step.
- If the fault message does not exists, continue with next step.
- Perform a continuity check between oil temperature sensor (MT6) and the ground shell (WM 49-12). The resistance should measure as follows:
From To Expected Result Result MT6P1-A Ground >1 megohm MT6P1-B Ground >1 megohm - If resistance value is not more than one megaohm for each wire, go to step 16.
- If resistance value is more than one megaohm for each wire, continue with next step.
- Perform a continuity check within oil temperature sensor (MT6) connector (WM 49-12). The resistance should measure as follows:
From To Expected Result Result MT6P1-A MT6P1-B >1 megohm - If resistance value is not more than one megaohm for each wire, replace the engine branched wiring-harness and do close out.
- If resistance value is more than one megaohm for each wire, continue with next step.
- Check any of the messages that follow still show on the CAIMS PMAT.

- GND SHORT - OIL TEMP SENSOR/WIRING
- If the fault message exists, troubleshoot it first and continue with next step.
- If the fault message does not exists, continue with next step.
- Perform a continuity check between each pin that follows and the ground shell (WM 49-12). The resistance should measure as follows:
From To Expected Result Result P802-6 Ground >1 megohm P802-7 Ground >1 megohm P802-56 Ground >1 megohm MT6P1-A Ground >1 megohm MT6P1-B Ground >1 megohm - If resistance value is not more than one megaohm for each wire, replace the engine branched wiring-harness and do close out.
- If resistance value is more than one megaohm for each wire, continue with next step.
- Check any of the messages that follow still show on the CAIMS PMAT.
