Message Overview:

Message Name:

GPWS FLAP OVERRIDE FUNCTION FAIL

Message Code: 344OBS004
Effectivity: All
System: Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning-System (EGPWS)
System Description: 34-42-00
Schematic Diagram: 34-42-00 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ GlobalXRS ]
Wiring Diagram: 31-43-01 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]

Message Description:

The flap override function of the Ground Proximity Warning-System (GPWS) is not operational. The aural warning “LANDING FLAPS” continues after the FLAP OVRD Switch on the Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning-System (EGPWS) Control Panel is set to ON.

Possible Causes:

  • Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning-System (EGPWS) Control Panel (AP72)
  • Ground Proximity Warning-System (GPWS) Computer (A64)
  • Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) 1 (A17)
  • Lamp Dimmer Power Supply (LDPS) 2 (A146)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin: None

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter:

Normal operation of Flap override can be tested by going to the system diagnostics page and do the SELF TEST LEVEL 6 for the GPWS on PMAT (AMM TASK 45-45-00-970-804). The follows will happen:

  • "LANDING FLAPS" will be heard from the flight compartment speakers when FLAP OVRD switch is set to ON
  • "NOT LANDING FLAPS" will be heard when FLAP OVRD switch is set to OFF

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Remove the DAU 1 to get access to the connector A17AP1, electrical connector A146P1 from the lamp-dimmer power supply 2, EGPWS control panel connector (AP72P1) and GPWS computer connector (A64BP1). Perform a continuity check between the connectors that follows:

    From To Result
    AP72P1-V A146P1-C
    AP72P1-U GS1024
    AP72P1-N A17AP1-A7
    AP72P1-R A64BP1-C9

    1. If there is no continuity, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If there is continuity, continue with next step.

  2. Install the DAU 1 and perform the operational test.

    1. If the results of the operational test are not satisfactory, perform the troubleshooting for CAS message DAU 1A FAIL (Advisory) or DAU 1B FAIL (Advisory).
    2. If the results of the operational test are satisfactory, continue with the next step.

  3. Connect the disconnected electrical connector A146P1 to the lamp-dimmer power supply 2. Perform the operational test of the lamp-dimmer power supply 2.

    1. If the results of the operational test are not satisfactory, perform troubleshooting for Panel Integral Lighting and do close out.
    2. If the results of the operational test are satisfactory, continue with next step.

  4. Connect the disconnected connector A64BP1 and perform the operational test of the GPWS computer.

    1. If the results of the operational test are not satisfactory, perform the troubleshooting for CAS message GPWS SYSTEMS FAIL (Advisory) and do close out.
    2. If the results of the operational test are satisfactory, continue with next step.

  5. Replace EGPWS control panel.
  6. Do close out.
