Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Message Description:

A hissing or squealing noise emanates from the Passenger Door when in flight.

Possible Causes:

  • Door rigging
  • Door Seal
  • Seal Striker
  • Door Drains

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

NOTE: Detailed troubleshooting recommendations are provided in the articles, refer to the Troubleshooting Tips.

  1. Inspect the door's seal and seal striker for damage, condition and contaminants.

    1. If damage or contamination is found, clean or replace as required and do close out.
    2. If inspection results are good, continue with next step.

  2. Make sure the door installation is properly rigged.

    1. If door rigging is required, perform rigging.
    2. If door is properly rigged, continue with next step.
      NOTE:Check for proper shimming of the forward swan neck hinge. Re-shim if required.

  3. Inspect the door drains to ensure the rubber flap is not missing or cracked. Also look for paint over-spray or FOD that will prevent the rubber flap from sealing. Repair/replace if required.
  4. Inspect the Seal Carrier Tooling Holes. Reseal if required.
  5. Inspect the door vent flap seal and adjust if required.
  6. Do close out.
