Reporting LRU: Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU)
System Description: 27-52-00
Schematic Diagram: 27-50-00 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]
Wiring Diagram: 27-50-07 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]
27-50-08 [ Global Express ]  [ G5000 ]  [ Global XRS ]

Fault Description:

The Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) has detected a failure condition in the Flap Motor Brake circuit for one of the following reasons:

  • There is an open circuit condition in the Power Drive Unit (PDU) Motor/Brake Drive
  • The outputs to the Flap Motor Brake do not agree with inputs from the Flaps Brake Drive

Possible Causes:

  • Flap Power Drive Unit (PDU) Motor 1 (B11)
  • Flap Power Drive Unit (PDU) Motor 2 (B12)
  • Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) 1 (A124)
  • Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) 2 (A95)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Tips:

Advisory Wire/Service Bulletin: None

Forum Articles/Infoservice/Newsletter: None

There are alternative ways to clear the fault:

  1. On the EMS CDU, select CTRL function and SLAT/FLAP RESET.
NOTE: Wait at least one minute after SFCU reset to allow self-test to run.
  2. Moving the SFCL to another detent.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

Fault reported by SFCU 1:

  1. Swap SFCU 1 with SFCU 2.

    1. If system checks are good, replace SFCU 1 and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  2. Measure the impedance at SFCU 1 as follow:

    From To Expected Result Result
    A124CP1-34 A124CP1-22 53.1 to 64.9 Ohms

    1. If resistance is within range, go to step 4.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  3. Perform wiring checks between SFCU 1 and Flap PDU motor connector.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  4. Replace Flap PDU motors.
  5. Do close out.

Fault reported by SFCU 2:

  1. Swap SFCU 2 with SFCU 1.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  2. Measure the impedance at SFCU 2 (A95CP1) as follow:

    From To Expected Result Result
    A95CP1-34 A95CP1-22 53.1 to 64.9 Ohms

    1. If resistance is within range, go to step 4.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  3. Perform wiring check between SFCU 2 and Flap PDU motor connector.

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  4. Replace Flap PDU motors.
  5. Do close out.
