Message Description:

The Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) does not receive input from the Left Wing Slat Resolver or the input is not in the permitted range.

Possible Causes:

  • Left Slat Resolver (MT77)
  • Slat/Flap Control Unit (SFCU) 1 (A124)
  • Associated Wiring

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. On the EMS CDU, select CTRL function and SLAT/FLAP RESET.
  2. NOTE: Wait at least one minute after SFCU reset to allow self-test to run.
  3. Cycle the SLATs from IN/0 degrees to OUT/30 degrees. Is the fault still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.

  4. Swap SFCU1 with SFCU2.

    1. If system checks are good, replace SFCU 1 and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  5. Move the SFCL to a different detent. Is the fault still present?

    1. If YES, continue with next step.
    2. If NO, do close out.
NOTE: SFCU 1 is the left side ( channel 1 ) controller. SFCU 2 is the right side (channel 2) controller.

  6. Perform a resistance check from the applicable resolver channel SFCU rack connector through the Left Slat resolver.

From the SFCU1, (resolver channel #1)

    From To Expected Result Result
    A124AP1-1 A124AP1-2 140 to 220 ohms (Resolver Primary Coil R2-R1)
    A124AP1-33 A124AP1-34 13 to 24 ohms (Output Sine Coil ch. 1)
    A124AP1-46 A124AP1-47 13 to 24 ohms (Output Cosine Coil ch.1)

From the SFCU2, (resolver channel #2)

    From To Expected Result Result
    A95AP1-1 A95AP1-2 140 to 220 ohms (Resolver Primary Coil R2-R1)
    A95AP1-33 A95AP1-34 13 to 24 ohms (Output Sine Coil ch. 1)
    A95AP1-46 A95AP1-47 13 to 24 ohms (Output Cosine Coil ch. 1)

    1. If resistance is out of tolerance, replace defective resolver.
    2. If resistance is within range, continue with next step.

  7. Perform wiring check between the applicable SFCU rack connector and the Left SLAT resolver connector.
From the SFCU 1, (resolver channel #1)

    From To Expected Result Result
    MT77-1 A124AP1-2 Continuity
    MT77-2 A124AP1-1 Continuity
    MT77-6 A124AP1-34 Continuity
    MT77-5 A124AP1-33 Continuity
    MT77-3 A124AP1-47 Continuity
    MT77-4 A124AP1-46 Continuity

From the SFCU 2, (resolver channel 2):

    From To Expected Result Result
    MT77-7 A95AP1-2 Continuity
    MT77-8 A95AP1-1 Continuity
    MT77-12 A95AP1-34 Continuity
    MT77-11 A95AP1-33 Continuity
    MT77-9 A95AP1-47 Continuity
    MT77-10 A95AP1-46 Continuity

    1. If wiring defects are found, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If no defects are found, continue with next step.

  8. Replace Left wing SLAT resolver.
  9. Do close out.
