Fault Description:
There is a problem with the Right Multi Function Spoiler (MFS) 2 Actuator and detected by the Flight Control Unit 2 channel A. The Right MFS 2 failed to deploy.
Possible Causes:
- Right Multi Function Spoiler (MFS) Power Control Unit (PCU) 2 (B48)
- Flight Control Unit (FCU) 2 (A66)
- Right Multi Function Spoiler (MFS) Proximity Switch Sensor (PSS) (MT114)
- Right Multi Function Spoiler (MFS) Proximity Switch Sensor (PSS) (MT118)
- Right Multi Function Spoiler (MFS) Proximity Switch Sensor (PSS) (MT116)
- Right Multi Function Spoiler (MFS) Proximity Switch Sensor (PSS) (MT120)
- Associated Wiring

This fault may sometime be cleared by performing the flight control system reset procedure. If the fault clears, swap FCU positions.
Getting access to the right MFS actuator #2 connector, to check for/remove any corrosion may clear the condition on the a/c.
The right MFS #2 data can be found in CAIMS:
- SYSTEM DIAG.
- 27-00 FLIGHT CONTROLS.
- FLIGHT CONTROL UNIT #2.
- LRU TEST.
- DISPLAY SPOILER DATA.
- CONFIRM.
- Go to sheets 1/3.
And
- SYSTEM DIAG.
- 27-00 FLIGHT CONTROLS.
- FLIGHT CONTROL UNIT #2.
- LRU TEST.
- DISPLAY ADVANCED EFCS DATA.
- Go to page 3 of 8 and make sure the channel B is active.

Troubleshooting Recommendations:
- Disconnect the right MFS 2 connector (B48) to check for corrosion on the pins and sockets.
- If system checks are good, do close out.
- If fault remains, continue with next step.
NOTE: Use contact cleaner.
- Swap FCU 2 with FCU 1.
- If system checks are good, replace FCU 2. Reset FCUs latched faults and do close out.
- If fault remains, continue with next step.
NOTE: If the fault follows the FCU, it will posted on the right MFS 4.
- Perform wiring checks between FCU 2 and MFS 2.
- If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
- If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.
- Replace Right MFS 2 PCU.
- Do close out.
[FLT SPOILERS FAULT (Advisory)]:
- Disconnect the right MFS 2 connector (B48) to check for corrosion on the pins and sockets.
- If system checks are good, do close out.
- If fault remains, continue with next step.
NOTE: Use contact cleaner.
- Swap FCU 2 with FCU 1.
- If system checks are good, replace FCU 2. Reset FCUs latched faults and do close out.
- If fault remains, continue with next step.
NOTE: If the fault follows the FCU, it will posted on the right MFS 4.
- Check rigging/status of MFS PSS. Adjust/rig as required.
- If system checks are good, do close out.
- If fault remains, continue with next step.
NOTE: PSS status can be observed in PMAT or synoptic page (amber triangle on top of PCU).
- Perform wiring checks between FCU 2 and MFS 2.
- If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
- If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.
- Replace Right MFS 2 PCU.
- Do close out.
