Require immediate crew attention. These messages are accompanied by flashing master warning, triple chime attenson with or without voice message or dedicated tone. Require immediate crew awareness and future crew action may be required in the form of alternate system selection or performance limitation. These message are accompanied by flashing master caution and a single chime. Indicate safe or normal system operation which require crew awareness, over and above the dark cockpit philosophy. Indicate minor failures or reduction in systems capability, which require no crew action.

Fault Description:

There is a problem with the Stab Trim Push Button detected by the Flight Control Unit (FCU) 1.

Possible Causes:

  • Stab Channel (CH) 1 Push Button Annunciator (PBA)
  • AIL/RUD/Stab Trims Control Panel (AP20)
  • Flight Control Unit (FCU) 1 (A65)
  • Associated Wiring

This fault may sometime be cleared by performing the flight control system reset procedure.

The GLD switch can be tested in CAIMS:

  1. SYSTEM DIAG.
  2. 27-00 FLIGHT CONTROLS.
  3. FLIGHT CONTROL UNIT #1.
  4. LRU TEST.
  5. COCKPIT SWITCHES TEST [FCU 1].

Troubleshooting Recommendations:

  1. Perform the cockpit switch test on CAIMS.

    1. If system checks are good, do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  2. Perform wiring checks between AIL/RUD/STAB TRIMS Control Panel and Ground as follow:

    From To Result
    AP20P1-F Ground
    AP20P2-F Ground

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  3. Perform open/shorted to ground checks at AIL/RUD/STAB TRIMS Control Panel as follow:

    STAB CH 1 PBA position AP20 Status
    Selected (STAB TRIM OFF) AP20J1-E Open
    Not Selected (STAB TRIM ON) AP20J1-E Ground

    1. If the checks are good, go to step 6.
    2. If any of the checks fails, continue with next step.

  4. Perform wiring checks in AIL/RUD/STAB TRIMS Control Panel as follow:

    From To Result
    AP20J1-F AP20J1-E

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  5. Swap STAB CH 1 PBA with STAB CH 2 PBA.

    1. If system checks are good, replace STAB CH 1 PBA and do close out.
    2. If fault remains, continue with next step.

  6. Perform wiring checks between FCU 1 and AIL/RUD/STAB TRIMS Control Panel (AP20).

    1. If wiring checks are not good, repair defective wiring as required and do close out.
    2. If wiring checks are good, continue with next step.

  7. Replace FCU 1 and reset FCUs latched faults.
  8. Do close out.
